Support for Carers.

If you are a carer for a relative or friend, please do register as a carer with your GP. A note will be made on your medical records so if you are taken into hospital the team will be prompted of your status and can check if the person you care for is being looked after whilst you are taken in. Registering yourself as a carer with your GP will also help to make sure we look after your health needs too, not just those of the person you are caring for.

You can also register on Surrey Councils Carers Emergency Registration Scheme. Once registered on the scheme, the County Council will respond wherever possible should there be an emergency. Details on this scheme, and a wealth of essential information for every carer in our area can be found by clicking here.

We recommend every carer should contact Social Services as soon as they are aware that they have become a carer. Do ask for a "carers assessment" to be carried out for you. Social Services will be able to help you with benefits, contacts, and much help that you may otherwise be unaware is available. Phone Cranleigh Social Services on 01483 518333.
